Description:

WellSky is seeking a Software Engineer III - DevOps to join our team. In this role one will create, maintain, and troubleshoot the IBM i Development, QA, Staging, and Production environments. This role will be responsible for quarterly security patches, product releases through the environments, and operational performance.
A day in the life!

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Deploy new versions of the product to production using automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines)
  • Apply quarterly security patches to all IBM i servers
  • Monitor operational performance of the IBM i Products
  • Monitor capacity/infrastructure to forecast needs of the business
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Development, QA, Staging, and Production system configurations
  • Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation
  • Troubleshoot performance production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment
  • Dynamic schedule – must be able to work nights/weekends
  • Responsibilities also include close collaboration with software developers on the product teams, operations staff, and other IT staff members to manage code releases

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2-4 years related work experience
  • Experience with the following technologies:
  • IBM i Operating System
  • IBM i, iSeries, AS/400 System Administration experience
  • IBM Power Server

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You possess a problem-solving attitude
  • Experience as a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software-engineering role.
  • Experience in network, server, and application-status monitoring
  • Proven ability to work as part of an Agile software development team and understands the SDLC process.
  • Ability to coach others, ensure processes and procedures are up to date and followed
  • Continuous Delivery/Integration: Rocket LMi, Azure DevOps
  • Application Development/Coding/Scripting Experience: SQL, Powershell
  • Hardware Management Console (HMC) configuration and support
  • SAN replication methods (IBM FSFC) configuration and support
  • Data replication configuration and support (PowerHA, MIMIX, etc.)
  • Experience in software development lifecycle automation(DevOps) for IBM i
  • SQL & DB performance monitoring & tuning - utilizing tools like iDoctor
  • RPG Application development coding – General Understanding
  • CL coding (develop and support)
  • Familiarity with Jira/Confluence
