SOFTWARE ENGINEER IN HPC PERFORMANCE
Salary: Band E (Stem 1) £53,818 - £59,199 gross per annum (dependent on skills and experience)

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The continuing success of the Hartree Centre means we are looking to recruit hardworking and enthusiastic Software Engineers to work on ground-breaking projects across high performance computing, big data analytics, and AI. The successful candidate will be working with the latest architectures and technologies to meet the needs of UK industry.
If successful, you will join a well-established and expanding team of extraordinary Software Engineers and Computational Scientists focussing on high-performance computing within our Centre, with an expanding IBM research team at STFC. You will work with business-development personnel to develop collaborations with industrial partners and public agencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Building computational models of components, products and processes.
- Support our partners integrate hierarchical and multilevel modelling approaches that enable efficient integration of novel methods in their applications.
- Working with Business Development on project scoping, in particular, identifying appropriate objectives to address client challenges, and feasibility assessment of technologies required to meet objectives and support our business development managers with technical pre-sales.
- Learn and apply HPC, data centric, analytics and AI technologies to enable our customers to tackle new challenges.
- Look at validation of conclusions, and presentation of results to customers (including advanced visualisation).
- Contributing and writing project applications for funding from national and international competitions.
- Project management across a range of project sizes and types, typically involving members from multiple groups within Hartree (including Research Software Engineering, HPC, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science).
- Make site visits to commercial and academic partners.
- Publish non-confidential results.
