Description:

Salary: From £42,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Reports into: Tech – People Manager
Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.

About the role
The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is key to our regression testing and development strategy. They work closely with Technical Lead and Senior Testers to create and maintain automated testing frameworks on our HESA Data Platform system and will be expected to work across the wider group on other platforms if necessary.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Write high quality integration tests using relevant test frameworks
  • Collaborate with agile teams to understand testing requirements throughout the development cycle
  • Reproduce, debug, and isolate problems and verify/re-test fixes
  • Experience with testing frameworks: NUnit, XUnit, SpecFlow, Playwright or Selenium
  • Experience with SQL, XML and JSON
  • Object oriented programming, ideally using C# / .NET
  • Experience creating API test frameworks using tools such as SOAPUI or Postman

Responsibilities:

  • Proven experience in various programming languages, software development frameworks, configuration tools and technologies relevant to automation and performance testing.
  • Working experience with software test tools and processes, building and testing frameworks, and consumer-facing applications and APIs.
  • Working knowledge of agile development lifecycle methodologies and CI/CD.
  • Customer focussed, representing their expectations for system performance, security, integration and useability before release and delivery.
  • Proficient in implementing test frameworks that can be used across our agile teams, and supporting how these evolve as the systems mature.
