Mō te tūranga | About the role
This will be a 6-month contract role, working closely with the Engineering team to support the delivery of the Workflow programme including the delivery of E-Sign capabilities to the organisation.
In this key Software Engineer role in the Consumer Lending & Insurance Product Group, you will provide technical expertise working in a community of cross-functional squads, ensuring we build in-line with modern best practices to deliver great value for our customers.
We need your help to continue our journey of modernizing while ensuring critical business functionality is delivered to our customers. Your experience and knowledge of modern tooling and best practice will be instrumental in helping to maintain our high expectations in quality. As well as your enthusiasm to learn and love of improving in everything you do, whether code refactors or process change or production support.
You are someone that is aware of business, infrastructure, and technical issues to aid in the development and implementation of solutions and anticipate future direction in the tech industry. Your ability to communicate a vision to technical and not-so-technical stakeholders and your ability to listen and adapt to emerging requirements will bring that vision to life.
Solutions architected around microservices, kappa, monoliths or serverless, your experience in one or more of these technologies will be partnered with an enthusiasm for exploring and learning the others. Existing systems will still need to be supported during this journey, we need someone who can find opportunities for improvement by applying best practice and patterns.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
- At least 5+ years full Stack Java including JPA/Hibernate.
- Legacy systems experience.
- Micro-service design, specification, and implementation.
- RESTful Api design, specification, and implementation.
- Javascript frameworks.
- Kubernetes and Docker or similar orchestration and containerization.
Ideally you will also have knowledge and experience of:
- AWS, Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- CI/CD and automation.
- Apache Kafka or similar.
- Security and resilience concerns and patterns.
- Alerting and observation integrations.
