This team keeps the current monolithic stack running while shifting current features into a new, serverless stack by refactoring existing code or adding new features as microservices. This is an opportunity to join a team that works on modern, cloud native infrastructure and become an essential part of building the new architecture.

We expect this team to be working across multiple technologies around a core including:

  • React

  • GraphQL

About the Role:
We are hiring several Software Engineers of differing levels to work on modernising the application platform for a key product, PatentSight+. PatentSight+ enables core IP activities such as competitive intelligence and benchmarking, portfolio optimization and more, by bringing together highly curated and enriched datasets, cutting-edge analysis tools with streamlined workflows and powerful visualization capabilities, all within a single platform. You’ll be working in a small highly skilled agile team, with ownership over the mission and your development practices and process. Your engineering team will be mainly based in the UK and Germany. You will also work closely with existing application team, as well as with a broader range of stakeholders distributed across the UK, Germany, Netherlands and the USA.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the breakdown and implementation of new features, such as a Sharing Service, Smart Search Engine, and a User Data Manager.
  • Helping to build AWS platform infrastructure with CDK, such as NodeJS/Python Lamda’s.
  • Assisting in refactoring the existing application.
  • Writing and reviewing portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Participate in development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
  • Operating in various development environments (Agile, Kanban, etc.) while collaborating with stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate experience working with modern React frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS or similar cloud providers, including knowledge on running cost effective serverless architecture.
  • Understand Software Engineering techniques and processes
  • Desirable, but not essential, experience with GraphQL, or similar API schemas.
  • Any experience with one or more of the following would be beneficial C#, SQL, Python or JavaScript.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience.
