POSITION OVERVIEW

Metrea’s Computational Lab plays a crucial role in Solution design and life-cycle management by offering computational capabilities for technical-level modelling, simulation, analysis, and optimization to Concepts Labs and Business Units, providing Metrea’s experts in Air & Space, Sea, Land and Electromagnetic domains with high-fidelity technical-level insights throughout the entire Solution design process, from concept design to operational use in the field and beyond.
As a Software Engineer within the Computational Lab you will be part of the core computational team, working closely with computational engineers and SMEs to design and implement the computational modules, as well as automate and scale the computational workflows that provide technical-level insights in an efficient, robust and reliable manner.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development of computational modules and workflows for Metrea’s technical-level modelling, simulation, analysis, and optimization capabilities.
  • Work closely with computational engineers and subject matter experts to understand requirements and implement high-fidelity, high-performance computational tools that will leverage bleeding-edge software and hardware capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance computational tools and plugins for Unreal Engine, tailored to the specific needs of computational engineers and SMEs.
  • Integrate existing computational models, solvers, and algorithms into the Unreal Engine framework to create interactive and visually engaging simulations.
  • Contribute to the integration of the novel computational capabilities and the associated technical-level insights with existing and upcoming Metrean capabilities at the tactical, operational and strategic levels.
  • Support the wider roll out and adoption of a common modelling and design standard across the enterprise.
  • Create a library of numerical and geometrical models and simulations with enterprise-wide access.
  • Provide insights and ideas that will assist in the further development of the Digital and Synthetics Group.

Our ideal candidate for this role will be someone with:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year experience in a Software Engineering role using Agile methodologies.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Proven experience with Unreal Engine development, ideally in a scientific or engineering context.
  • Experience with VTK or similar scientific visualization software.
  • A good level of understanding of how CAD/CDF/FEA approaches work is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) concepts and techniques is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Intellectually curious, with strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
