We are the Teams front line work team focused on bringing in the next set of new users by making Teams the app and hub for Frontline workers. Vancouver is a new site for the Teams FLW (front line work) team and an opportunity to make a significant difference.

As a Software Engineer You will partner with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature and consider a variety of feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes. You will collaborate with others to create a clear and articulated plan for testing, assuring quality of solutions, while applying knowledge of debugging tools, logs, telemetry, and other methods to proactively flag issues. You will learn about the implications of security and compliance requirements in systems architecture. As a Software Engineer you will develop software, tools and code to be used in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms as well as commercial or end-user applications. This opportunity will allow you to create and implement extensible and maintainable code for a product, service, or feature. You will help to support communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers and develop an understanding of global and local regulations for technologies and system applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with DevOps environments.
  • Experience with building Web Applications with front-end technologies like TypeScript, Angular, React/Redux.
  • Experience in distributed systems and cloud technologies.
    Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $63,900 - CAD $126,600 per year.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
  • With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
