REQUIRED EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
• 14+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications.
• Design, code, and modify new or existing software to add features, correct defects, and improve performance.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
• Develop and implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
• Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components and systems.
• Write, review, and improve software and system documentation, providing recommendations for enhancing documentation and software development processes.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas.
• Design and implement complex database queries and interfaces, developing simple data queries for databases or data repositories.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
• Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Work with Agile systems development methods (e.g., Scrum) for project management and development processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Technical experience or knowledge of the following:
• Software development languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, Javascript, and/or VisualBasic
• Structured Query Language (SQL) for database queries and management.
• Cloud Experience: Shall have demonstrated work experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, CloudBase/Acumulo, Big Table, etc.
• Shall have demonstrated work experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.
• Shall have demonstrated work experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
• Shall have demonstrated work experience with Serialization such as JSON and/or BSON.
• Knowledge/competency in the job requirements listed above

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Support cloud technologies, including AWS, and understand basic concepts of cluster technologies like Kubernetes.
• Assist in machine learning or natural language processing (NLP) development projects.
• Develop and maintain databases using technologies like Sybase, Oracle, and object-oriented database design.
• Work with Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) applications.
• Participate in web applications development and work with web frameworks such as J2EE and .NET.
• Assist in developing solutions using enabling technologies like the Apache Suite.

SUMMARY PAY RANGE:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

As a Software Engineer - Senior Level at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics you will be responsible for:

• Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
• Works individually or as part of a team.
• Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
• Resolves software problem reports.
• Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
• Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
