We are an SRE/DevOps/Operational Intelligence team rolled into one. The platforms and software trends that we create are technology pillars that support Apple. From eCommerce to reporting systems we make it seamless for disparate systems talk to each other at an unfathomable scale and speed. From Load Balancers, perimeter security, to Integrations and API gateways we support and help adoption of platforms. The SRE Engineer position will be part of a horizontal Platform Engineering Ops group focused on a breadth of technologies and applications including very highly scalable distributed applications. The position requires strategic engineering and data science skills, along with hands-on technical work. The candidate will get to explore and learn about security domain, participate in building machine learning pipelines, phish/fraud/anomaly detection models, crypto strategies for privacy, apply data science skills to petabytes of data. DESCRIPTION

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Apple Products and leave a footprint for years to come. You will ensure the availability, performance, maintenance of high volume, highly available, mission critical enterprise platforms and applications related to email security, Integration Platforms, Communication Platform, and Perimeter Security Platform. You will be a part of the team that helps ship robust and amazing products to our customers. Help with infrastructure optimization and identifying performance bottlenecks. Help with full system lifecycle including configuration and code deployment in user acceptance test and production environments as well as implementing PCI/PII compliant controls. Participate in building machine learning pipelines, phish/fraud/anomaly detection models, crypto strategies for application and data security. Participate in development and maintenance of monitoring infrastructure, application services and incident response. Work closely with Cross functional IT organization, production support, engineers, application engineers, system engineers, database administrators and QA team to effectively ensure availability and reliability of platforms and applications. Contribute towards dynamic scaling of platform infrastructure on third party cloud for a cost effective implementation. Contribute to building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation with growing demand. Contribute to implementation of extensive generic operational monitoring framework for the growing hybrid (on prim + Cloud) infrastructure.

  • Good foundation in at least one object oriented programming language (preferably Java)
  • Understanding of databases (e.g., SQL) and Linux/Unix
  • Knowledge of scripting language such as: Python or Bash
  • Good organizational and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated, independent, and dedicated with great organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of REST APIs. Good knowledge of response codes, headers/request/response structures, and payloads. If you have tested/automated REST APIs calls with Java, that will be great!
  • Familiarity with build and deployment systems using Maven and GIT
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Splunk etc) is a plus
  • Experience or interest in automation is a huge plus
  • Knowledge of architecture, cloud technologies, scaling and performance tuning
  • Ability to investigate, debug and triage problems both independently and collaboratively.
