Role Overview
Axiom develop a host of in-house software pivotal to pricing, publishing, executing orders and trades. With a large code base, mainly consisting of C++ and C#, we are continually moving forward by modernising our existing code base, creating libraries and microservices.
As a professional on the “Axiom C++” team, you will follow agile sprint methodologies, effectively analysing and enriching tasks and delivering said tasks in a timely manner to a professional standard. You will work with a range of other professionals including end users. You will provide support to end users on a rotational basis and you will be required to update documentation from time to time. You will work with your manager to set performance goals and have regular catch-ups, usually on a fortnightly basis. You will also be reviewing the code of other developers in the Axiom development team.

  • Analyse requirements to ensure they are clear for all involved
  • Estimate and plan work tasks effectively
  • Design, develop, test and maintain software following the coding standard set up by the team
  • Provide support to end users on a rotational basis
  • Communicate effectively with your team and other teams in the company including other regions
  • Communicate effectively with end users to asses issues and identify new requirements
  • Complete mandatory training from time to time to ensure you are adhering to company guidelines

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • A good understanding of popular programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, and Python
  • A familiarity working with software IDEs such as Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new practices as set out by the development team

Desired

  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working in the financial sector, particularly around financial models
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working with micro services
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience working with UI programming
  • A keen interest in coding best practices and design-patterns
