JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate and Investment Banking, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Strong knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as Infrastructure as Code, networking terminology, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Shell etc.).
  • Strong background in RHEL 8/9, Apache2.x, Tomcat9 and REST technology.
  • Experience and understanding of monitoring and ops analysis tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics etc.
  • Drives to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

  • Drive to automation and minimize manual routine tasks is desirable.
  • Drive to uncover system problems and provide suggestions and solutions.
  • Experience in Java development technologies

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, configures and manages enterprise software (including vendor software) on-premise and/or in cloud at scale and with 24x7x365 availability
  • Drives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies.
  • Partners with application and infrastructure teams to identify potential capacity risks and govern remediation statuses
  • Works with cross functional teams to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes.
  • Performs vendor management duties such as maintaining ongoing relationship with vendor(s), engaging vendor support for technical needs, assessing vendor performance etc.
  • Lead and participate in performance & resiliency tests; identify bottlenecks, opportunities for optimization & automation, and capacity demands.
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
