Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
BBE is actively seeking an experienced and highly talented Software & IT Manager to lead our dynamic development team through our ongoing digital developments that aid BBE in the Freight Forwarding and Logistics space. Reporting to the COO, this role is responsible for leading a team of developers in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining our MyBBE platform, and managing our overall IT infrastructure.
As the Software & IT Manager, you work to ensure BBE’s core values are evident in all that you do. You think like an expenditure and ensure the account teams do the same. You think about who needs to be involved and you communicate considerately to ensure your team does the same. You have the tenacity to jump in and get the job done all while providing exceptional customer service. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- +5 years of experience in software development and IT management roles.
- Proven track record of leading successful software development projects.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, network systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with cloud technologies, SaaS platforms, and Microsoft Business Central.
- Experience with Python, Django, Django REST Framework, and Fast API.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to balance technical expertise with business acumen.
- Experience in a fast-paced, growing company environment is a plus.

Responsibilities:
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Details of key accountabilities are provided below.
Digital Project Management
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software and IT development projects involving cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and contractors.
- Lead project deliverables to meet project scope, schedule, quality, and budget, and take corrective actions as needed, including resource constraints.
- Identify project risks and issues, and develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintain project documentation, including system design, project charters, status reports, change requests, and other project artifacts.
- Engage and collaborate with BBE internal and external users to determine and validate requirements, complete testing of Beta Program versions, and validate functionality meets market requirements with business development team members.
- Report on project performance metrics, including starts, timelines, completions, and delays.
- Scope, budget, and plan new digital projects.
- Manage third-party development teams to meet contract obligations and project deliverables.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, including team members, senior management, clients, and vendors, to drive effective and successful project outcomes.
Software Development Management
- Lead and manage the front-end and back-end developing team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy software solutions that meet business and user requirements.
- Manage and prioritize software projects: ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software releases and managing backlog development tickets.
- Lead the ongoing development and enhancement of RPA projects, MyBBE web-based platform, Microsoft Business Central ERP, and customer and vendor system integrations.
- Establish and implement software development best practices, including coding standards, version control, testing methodologies, documentation, and training.
IT Infrastructure & Security Management
- Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s IT infrastructure, including network systems, hardware, and software.
- Lead the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures to ensure data security and regulatory compliance.
- Manage IT budgets and vendor relationships.
- Lead IT security initiatives, including risk assessments, vulnerability management, and incident response planning.
- Ensure business continuity through robust disaster recovery and backup strategies that are consistent with our ISO 27001 and SOC 2 best practices; and act as the Security Leader in these policies.
Strategic Leadership
- Align technology initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations to senior management.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive organizational innovation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key technology partners and vendors.
CORPORATE COMPLIANCE DUTIES
- Actively participate in QHSETR programs and systems, including ISO 27001.
- Cross-functional team communications and problems solving:
- Onboarding new clients or contracts.
- Upcoming or existing capacity requirements.
- Opportunities and challenges with existing or new clients.
- Competitive tactics at play within our markets.
