Description:

Your Job
DarkVision, part of Koch Engineered Solutions, is looking for a Product Manager with B2B experience to lead the planning, prioritization, and strategic decision-making for a new software platform being developed at DarkVision.
This next generation software platform is business critical and will enable our team of analysts to process, visualize, and report on the ultrasound data gathered by our advanced industrial imaging tools. This is not your average product manager role - the successful candidate will significantly influence the direction and execution of our software and machine learning roadmap. You must be comfortable in operating in uncertainty and have a proven track record of working on building applications from scratch. Our product is specialized and extremely technical so we are looking for someone who thrives in complexity and wants to spend significant time in the application so that they can help inform efficient workflows for our internal users and stakeholders.
We are a world-class team that is revolutionizing how industrial operators understand the integrity of their multi-million-dollar assets balancing their environmental and business objectives. If you are driven to make a difference and enjoy doing whatever it takes to do so - then we want to hear from you. We are looking for someone who blends excellent technical aptitude with solid business acumen. You will need to be able to appreciate and understand larger business objectives, handle uncertainty, and translate that into executable sprints. We don’t spoon-feed our software engineers but want to ensure we’re working on the right initiatives at the right time.
This role will be based out of DarkVision’s head office in North Vancouver, Canada and report to our Director of Product.

To make well informed decisions, Oil & Gas asset operators need a clear picture of the inner workings of piping infrastructure. The team at DarkVision makes this happen. Come join our team as we embark on the exciting journey ahead to become the global leader in industrial imaging.

WHO YOU ARE (BASIC QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Experience working with enterprise software in a B2B environment as a product manager or product owner.
  • Proven track record of building applications from scratch.
  • Experience collecting, understanding, and translating technical requirements.
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum) methodology.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive Product Direction & Development: Partner with Engineering, Design, Innovation, Analysis and Product teams to ideate and roadmap an innovative application that will work efficiently for stakeholders. This requires someone who can think big and understand the broader business implications and then translate this into an Agile sprint planning and development framework.
  • Understand the Customer: We inspect industrial piping assets. The successful candidate will need to have a desire to continuously grow their knowledge base in this technical field. You don’t need to be an industrial ultrasound expert today, but along the way, we want you to learn how and why our customers use our data make decisions in this technical field.
  • Manage Roadmap Timelines and Expectations: Distill complex big picture ideas into digestible quarterly objectives and two week sprints. Provide realistic timelines for the product capabilities on a regular basis to our executive team. You will be focused on software but need to understand and make decisions based on the bigger picture.
  • Manage Product Scope: Understand and communicate the technical complexity, timelines, and business value of software-related products. Make trade-offs to maximize value along the way. Plan, communicate, and set actionable goals for product features for the R&D team.
  • Own Sprint Planning: Implement and own the sprint planning process. You will be responsible for pragmatically running the Agile process. We like fit-for-purpose processes, and you should too.
  • Own Product Backlog: Our software platform is the core of our product. It’s used by Data Analysts to generate analytics and 3D visualizations from real-world data. We have many requirements from both internal and external user groups - prioritizing these features so we stay on track is critical to our long-term success. You will refine and prioritize the backlog in collaboration with multiple internal stakeholders (Director of Product, Product Managers, Director of Data Analysis, Director of Software and Quality Assurance - among others).
  • Be an Entrepreneur: You are curious and want to stay updated on the latest and greatest developments in our industry. You’ll have the opportunity to travel to all corners of the world to learn and gain inspiration at technical conferences - and bring those ideas back to implement into our products. And you’ll have the wind at your back; we have fantastic customer traction with a highly differentiated product and want to keep it that way.
