We work with technically ambitious companies to help them meet their business goals.
Collaboration and teamwork are key ingredients to our success. With a team of around 60 people, it’s easy to get to know everyone and to feel at home in the office. There is always a full programme of social events to get involved in as well as many wellbeing initiatives to help keep you happy and healthy. At Ghyston we have formalised our commitment to people and the environment through our new vision to become the South West leaders in creating transformational software with a conscience. We are carbon neutral and are continuously working to reduce our negative impact on the planet. We also care about our community and work with local partners to try to reduce inequalities and improve lives. Employees often get involved with these activities and love being able to have a positive impact.

WHO DO WE NEED?

A highly motivated software engineer with excellent communication skills, who has a good understanding of maintaining software and enjoys building relationships with clients and team members. The role would be 4-5 days a week, we are looking for the equivalent of 30 to 37.5 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

You will be part of the support team, whose goal is to deliver peace of mind to customers that their software will continue to work in the long term. We focus on enhancing the software that we support rather than just maintaining, and our work involves lots of new feature development and technical debt reduction. As well as feature development, you will be resolving live issues, improving pro-active monitoring systems and ensuring excellence in the quality and maintainability of the software that our clients rely on.

Your main duties will be:

  • Triaging and resolving live issues as 3rd line support, implementing code and data fixes as appropriate.
  • Working closely with customers to gather requirements, estimate, and implement new functionality.
  • Prioritising urgent issues.
  • Handling domain complexity across a variety of scenarios, from manufacturing to property management.
  • Regularly communicating with customers to keep them up-to-date and ensure we are prioritising their requirements effectively.
  • Proactively monitoring the performance of software to detect issues early.
  • Occasional out of hours support at additional pay, agreed on an ad hoc basis.
