We are looking for a Software Test Engineer (Manual) to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg (Hybrid).
In this role, you’ll work independently while providing senior-level guidance, managing teams, and overseeing project progress. Your primary responsibility will be to lead Quality Engineering projects, utilizing available test frameworks and tools to ensure projects meet their goals on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Test Case Development and Execution: Analyse, design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases. Ensure product quality through rigorous testing and validation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, and other stakeholders. Foster deep relationships through honest communication aligned with company values.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Quality Assurance Leads, Product Owners, and other team members. Participate in user acceptance testing and retrospective reviews.
  • Task Management: Manage and prioritize tasks based on sprint backlog timelines. Participate in planning, estimation, and sizing of products and features.
  • Testing Requirements: Identify technical integration dependencies and test requirements. Define regression testing scope and provision necessary test data and environments.
  • Automation and Execution: Maintain and update automation code. Execute manual and automated tests, ensuring results are recorded and stored for audit purposes.
  • Issue Resolution: Report and manage the resolution of issues promptly. Log defects accurately and assist with root cause analysis. Communicate potential release risks and mitigation factors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to retrospective reviews to enhance efficiency. Seek ongoing improvements in technical capabilities and business processes.
  • Professional Development: Stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise. Support personal growth and effectiveness in role performance. Participate in corporate responsibility initiatives and contribute to company culture.
  • Technical Expertise: Perform test analysis and conduct manual testing. Use automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, Appium, Healenium, RestAssured) with Java and IntelliJ IDE.
  • Front-end automation and some API exposure are essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
  • ISEB / ISTQB Certification (preferred)

Desired Skills:

  • Conduct test analysis and perform manual testing.
  • Utilize automation frameworks and pre-defined test tools to inspect, analyze, design, develop, and implement reusable automated test assets.
  • Ensure the overall quality of the solution and its architecture.
  • Front-end automation experience is essential, with some exposure to API testing.
  • Proficient in using tools such as Selenium, Appium, Healenium, and RestAssured.
  • Competent in Java programming and working with IntelliJ IDE.
