JOB SUMMARY
Polar Power is seeking Applications Engineers to be based at the corporate headquarters in Gardena. We do very little solar grid-tie applications; most of the projects involve working with grid backup using DC generators and Solar Hybrid standalone systems in North America and other parts of the world.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 years work experience in the solar, telecommunications, or military industry
In depth understanding of photovoltaics and battery charging
Strong communication and presentation skills
Engineering degree preferred
Ability to prioritize and be self-sufficient in a changing and dynamic environment
Excellent customer service skills, as well as proficient communication skills, both written and verbal
Exercise good judgement and problem-solving skills, with a strong work ethic
Demonstrate a strong passion for customer service and technology
Team-oriented, courteous, accessible demeanor toward leadership, peers, colleagues, and the public
Responsibilities:
Providing pre-sales support direct to the customer and to the Polar sales executive
Ensure that correct Hybrid System and/or DC Generator components are chosen, accurately specified, and applied to the customer’s requirements
Provide product and systems training for customers, service personnel, and Polar sales staff
Review incoming purchase orders for correctness
Provide technical presentations that promote the company’s product lines
In conjunction with Sales Directors help managing existing client’s accounts and help identify additional sales opportunities
You have the option to travel worldwide and present papers at conferences, talk to customers at exhibitions, and meet customers at their installation sites
Application Engineers will configure systems with the latest technologies in: energy storage, Battery Management Systems (BMS), DC generators, solar charge controllers, solar refrigeration. Educate customers on the latest lithium ion battery and BMS solutions, and optimizing solar hybrid solutions.
Polar’s senior engineers will provide training and direction on the latest and greatest technologies. We seek those individuals who excel at learning and problem solving.
