Addisons currently has an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated lawyer to join our leading Gambling team.
This position offers a dynamic hands-on experience collaborating with a globally renowned and reputable Partner who is deeply committed and well-informed about the industry, holding the top rank in the Global Chambers Guide. The team provides guidance to both local and international businesses on various facets of gambling law including the interplay with internet gaming, racing, sports and entertainment, regulatory and policy issues, licensing and compliance concerns, as well as general commercial affairs pertaining to operations within the gambling, gaming and sports sectors.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Advising across a broad range of areas of law, including legal issues relating to gambling, consumer protection, advertising and marketing campaigns (including sponsorships), privacy, intellectual property, anti-money laundering, e-commerce and technology, sports and entertainment
  • Drafting advices and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Extensive contact with clients as well as Partner and senior team members
  • Understanding new technologies and concepts and assessing their legality by reference to a myriad of applicable laws, many of which are outdated
  • Engagement with Federal and State regulators in the gambling, gaming and adjacent sectors
  • Marketing reviews and presentations
  • Guidance on policy developments
  • Licensing enquiries and applications

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Minimum of 2+ years post-qualification experience
  • Keen interest in the gambling, internet gaming, sports and entertainment sectors
  • Experience within a highly regulated industry and dealing with Federal and/or State regulators
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A solution-focused and commercial mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end matters
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills
  • Ability to recognise legal issues and business development opportunities from local and international press and other media
  • An interest in global and cross-border legal issues
  • Ability and commitment to be flexible and adaptable to change and feedback
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan ahead and anticipate needs and deadlines
  • Calm disposition and positive outlook irrespective of work pressures
  • Growth ambitions within the firm and Gambling team, specifically
