We have opportunities for those with 2 to 4 years’ and 4 to 8 or more years’ experience to join our award-winning and ever growing IP team as a Solicitor/Senior Solicitor or Senior Associate. The people we are looking for will have general IP experience with a focus on trade mark work, including trade mark clearance advice, trade mark prosecution and trade mark oppositions/revocation proceedings. Experience in IP commercialisation work and/or IP disputes will also be very helpful. An understanding of business sectors and commercial issues and as well as a pragmatic attitude will also be desirable attributes to bring to the roles.
We are looking for people who can take on matters from the get-go, thrive on challenging work, work with a good balance of autonomy and supervision and who will gain immensely from the broad variety of IP work available. You will get mentorship directly from the leaders of the IP team Hamish Selby (Partner) and Sophie Thoreau (Special Counsel) who are highly regarded in the IP industry both locally and internationally. The IP team are well-known for providing a flexible and nurturing environment for IP practitioners to develop and enhance their skillset and knowledge, enjoy autonomy, have lots of direct client contact and thrive in an ever changing and challenging legal sector.

Responsibilities:

These roles offer you the chance to work as part of a tight-knit team across the full spectrum of IP work including developing, protecting, enforcing and commercialising IP as well as IP rights and portfolio management. You will also work on M&A deals in collaboration with our leading corporate and commercial team and provide IP advice across the full range of services provided by Buddle Findlay.
