Description:
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in designing complex solutions
- Experience working with both Commercial-Off-the-Shelf and bespoke solutions
- Experience in both greenfield and legacy environments, including decommissioning legacy environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication, with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience with Cloud-native services & applications (Preferably MS Azure)
- Experience of distributed, micro-services based or event-driven architectures
- Good understanding of software design principles and best practices
- Experience with APIs, Integration Patterns and microservices
- Experience with .NET, low code and JavaScript technologies
- Experience of DevOps technologies and practices

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF ROLE
We are looking for a talented and driven Solutions Architect with generalist knowledge across multiple architecture domains to help us expand our expertise in the architecture space as Shawbrook’s technology footprint continues to grow.
Working alongside the Guild Leads and Tech Leads within the Engineering function, you will offer expertise to help design and guide the implementation of new technology solutions. You will bring broad knowledge across multiple disciplines to ensure robust technology selections and designs, that enable Shawbrook to follow cutting edge trends and best practices.
We are looking for a tech driven and innovative team player, able to develop knowledge and skills to implement and run new technologies across a range of key projects and initiatives for the bank. Collaborating with a range of talented teams across the bank, you’ll work closely with product teams, software engineers and delivery teams to ensure that quality standards are met, and design decisions are made with best practice in mind.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
What you’ll be doing:
- Whilst not creating production code, you will be contributing to proof of concept and tech prototypes, with a keen understanding of engineering.
- Designing solution architectures against initiative scope
- Drawing up HLD architectures and performing options analyses to meet the requirements of the business, particularly where new technologies or approaches are needed.
- Assessing vendor and build options as appropriate.
- Reviewing and elaborating on initiative scope, challenging as appropriate.
- Identifying key risks at design-time, ensuring these are managed and aligned to the bank’s risk appetite.
- Contributing to evolving our Technology Standards and Reference Design Patterns.
- Making constructive contributions to the Technology Advisory Forum.
