Description:

As a global leader in automated warehouse solutions, Dematic’s Solution Development team is at the heart of developing award-winning materials handling solutions that enhance its customer’s supply chain and revolutionise their operations.
As a key member of the team, the role of the Solution Development Consultant supports inbound sales leaders by understanding the customer’s scope, requirements, and data to produce innovative concepts that will eventually be deployed in their warehouse operations.
This unique and exciting role combines strong cross-functional collaboration with sales, customers, and project managers to bring solutions to life through 2D and 3D modelling. For this role, we are seeking those with a strategic, analytical, and innovative mind who can combine their design, development, and consultative experience to support the department with the inbound sales leads and presentation of the concepts to the customer.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Collaboratively liaise with the Head of Solutions, Sales Project Managers, Team Lead and Customers to collect all required data to design the required automated warehouse solution.
  • Communicate with various departments inside Dematic (mechanical, design, concepting, software, controls design, purchasing, product centres etc.) to ensure correct product application.
  • Applying gained knowledge of Dematic modules and sub-modules to design cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • In some cases, run the entire process with minimum interaction from the Sales Lead.
  • Work with 3rd Party suppliers to form specifications for the equipment used in the solution.
  • Create, populate and maintain equipment lists for designed solutions.
  • Create visual material for presentations and offer documents (rendered images, fly-through videos).
  • Provide Sales Project Managers with the technical information of the solution.
  • Assist Sales Project Managers in compiling the project handover to the Project Execution Team.
  • Occasionally attend site visits and customer presentations to understand customer requirements and site conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate will possess either a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Product knowledge within the warehouse automation would be desirable, however, exposure to similar technology in an aligned automation or materials-handling environment would also be an asset to the role.
  • Good communication skills with the confidence and ability to speak and present in front of customers and articulate ideas to senior stakeholders.
  • A passion for Automation and a strong desire to work at the heart of an innovative and leading solutions development department.
  • Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp Pro or similar would be required in the role.
  • A general understanding of engineering competencies (Mechanical, Hardware, Software, Controls, or Mechatronics Applications)
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and for customer presentations.
