Solutions Architect

We are looking for a Solutions Architect for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in or related experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset
• Minimum of 12 years with technologies skillset identified
• Oil & Gas experience is a strong asset
• Must be fluent in Azure Cloud implementations of Cloud Data Platform
• Strong knowledge of architecture design, development, deployment and testing principles
• Qualifications as a senior DBX/Azure architect (CloudOps experience) who knows how to build, scale and optimize (cost/performance) an RBAC based, CICD (ADF & Databricks) deployable/scalable, Databricks environment in a hub/spoke model and that can also take advantage of the best-practice patterns in Azure and Databricks

• Bicep
• Infrastructure as Code

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Solution Architect to join the team for an exciting program focused on integrating, optimizing, modernizing, and sustainably governing our data management systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the development of solution architecture, detail design, development & operational support of the infrastructure of systems. The scope of this role encompasses all aspects of the DEV ops lifecycle, including design, development and testing of solutions. The resource will also be accountable for any technical documentation required to align with company standards for Transition to Operations. We are looking for a resource to perform the role of Solution Architect but also be a hands-on senior developer contributing to the build required for the project.
The Solution Architect will work with the D&IT cloud ops team members & project team members to establish and deliver high value deliverables within the program.

Responsibilities

• The Solution Architect must be able to communicate with the technical team to implement a system that is:
• Secure - Cloud RBAC, cost effective and sustainable
• Implement and manage technical quality control processes and ensure work delivered is tested adequately with sign-off
• Analyze and assess existing data management systems, processes, and technologies to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for changes that provide direct business value
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data innovation.
• Implementing sustainment processes including KPIs/metrics, data governance controls, and other auditable processes
