Solutions Engineering Manager
Overview
At Liquid Robotics, we make the most experienced ocean surface robot on the planet. Our Wave Glider platform services a wide range of missions, whether it’s acting in partnership with environmental institutes to monitor oil spills or supporting a nation’s sovereignty by listening for submarines deep within the ocean, these rugged uncrewed surface vessels have been deployed in high sea states in the North Sea, hurricanes, or tropical storms, for more than 15 years.
Liquid Robotics is seeking a Solutions Engineering Manager to lead a team of Solutions and Systems engineers. This person will be responsible for architecting solutions to solve customer’s challenges, leading engineering inputs to proposals, and overall systems engineering activities on various internal and external projects at Liquid Robotics. The ideal candidate brings an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to solutions design, experience in marine engineering, and a strong systems viewpoint.
The Solutions Lead will report directly to the Head of Engineering. This role will be located in our Herndon, VA headquarters.
Responsibilities:

Job duties will include

  • Manage the work of systems and solution engineers within the company.
  • Work directly with customers to define custom engineering needs and requirements.
  • Work with engineering team (systems, hardware, and software) to develop designs for new capabilities that meet customer/market needs.
  • Support the creation of system and subsystem specifications based on user requirements.
  • Develop relevant prototypes to support early validation of product architectures and design solutions.
  • Participate in concept and design reviews as an independent reviewer.
  • Develop and deliver solution-specific training to customers.
  • Support methodical root cause analysis and resolve high-priority, solution-related issues.
  • Author and refine trade studies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in developing systems or solutions, focus on maritime environments preferred. Experience in the design of uncrewed platforms of particular interest.
  • Minimum 3 years management experience, working with a range of junior to senior employees.
  • Strong interdisciplinary skillset,
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. An active security clearance at time of hire is preferred.

U.S. Person or Permanent Residency status required.
