We are now looking for a Sourcing Manager or Category Manager, Indirect Sourcing to join UPM Sourcing organization in UPM Business Hub in Tampere or The Biofore House, Helsinki.

Welcome to Indirect Materials and Services Sourcing, Business and Site Services Team! We deliver commercial and strategic supply management excellence thru intelligent, value-adding sourcing activities aligned with the business objectives. We are looking for a Sourcing Manager or Category Manager (depend on the candidate profile, experience and skills) who will join our global team and oversee the strategic sourcing of essential Business Services in the area of: HR services, Marketing, Sustainability and Communication, Facility Management, Professional services, Market Intelligence. This role plays a vital part in delivering value on a global scale. What you will do
- Category Strategy: you will develop and implement category strategies and plans that align with business objectives and deliver value for the organization
- Competitive and Resilient Supply: you will lead sourcing events, cost optimization initiatives, contract negotiations and market benchmarking. Youi will understand, monitor and mitigate risk exposure, leverage available technology platforms and drive sourcing digitalization in buying channel strategy
- Stakeholder Collaboration: you will establish, manage and develop solid relationships with internal stakeholders and drive business alignment. In addition, you will foster collaboration and dialogue with peers and the Tactical Sourcing Operations team to accomplish joint goals and category excellence in the Business & Site Services area
- Supplier Management: you will build and maintain a sustainable and reliable supplier base for assigned sub-categories, lead the evaluation, selection, and development of strategic and key suppliers to drive performance, and own and drive Supplier Relationship Management Programs for respective area
- Performance Monitoring: you will define and track category targets and supplier performance metrics to ensure the business value delivery
Who you are
As we are open to consider candidates with other than strategic sourcing relevant business background, our expectations differ per role and are listed below.
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Management, or a related field is required; having a Master’s degree or equivalent is beneficial
- You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Indirect Sourcing (for Category Manager) or related areas e.g., Supply Chain, Vendor Management, Sales, Stakeholder Relations and communication (for Sourcing Manager)
- You have exposure and experience in commercial area (for Category Manager) or strong motivation to learn it (Sourcing Manager)
- You have negotiation and influencing skills with experience in contracting for business services and effective risk identification and management (Category Manager) or a genuine motivation to learn and develop those (Sourcing Manager)
- You are proficient in English and Finnish, with effective communication skills to engage diverse stakeholder groups across global functions and businesses, including HR, Marketing, Sustainability, Communications, and Finance
- You have a comprehensive understanding of cross-functional and cross-cultural business dynamics gained from working in an international environment
- You have experience with sourcing systems (SAP Ariba would be an asset) and e-tools or motivated to learn

Additional information
The position is located in UPM Business HUB Tampere or The Biofore House, Helsinki; Finland. Other UPM locations in Finland can be considered. Position will require traveling on business, up to 20% of the time.
