Description:
NATURE OF WORK:
The job of the Research & Grants Office Analyst involves overseeing the development and management of a variety of externally funded projects and initiatives for faculty, staff and the College. This includes, but is not limited to, non-research and institutional grants, ECQ projects and service agreements, research, as well as grants supporting the integration of students and other development projects. The incumbent will also oversee an ongoing assessment and analysis of the College’s pedagogical needs, recommend to the College strategies to address the identified and evolving needs, as well as oversee the establishment of new externally funded projects and initiatives.
Specifically, the incumbent oversees externally funded projects and initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for advising College faculty and staff during the grant application process, managing grant funds, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and College policies and preparing reports for funded projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization, particularly, Business Administration, Communications, Education, or a degree with a research component.
Responsibilities:
- Support and advise the Dean of Academic Development in the management of externally funded projects and initiatives (e.g. Entente Canada-Quebec, research and non-research grants, externally funded projects and initiatives, etc).
- Externally Funded Projects and Initiatives (Non-Research, ECQ Grants, Research, etc)
- In collaboration with other members of the Research & Grant Office, serve as the primary source of information and support for Dawson faculty and staff by providing professional expertise and guidance regarding external funding opportunities.
- Serve on committees and attend conferences and workshops related to grant management operations and development. At the request of the Dean, be a member of associations such as ARC, AQPC, CARA, etc.
- Institutional External Funding Opportunities
- Identify and recommend research, non-research and institutional funding opportunities based on an ongoing analysis of the College’s needs.
- Identify, support and develop mechanisms designed to expand externally sponsored funding opportunities.
- ECQ Translation Service Grant
- Coordinate the translation service for the anglophone network of colleges and universities.
- Liaise with institutions and translators for validation of terminology.
- Review and deliver completed translations as appropriate.
- Organize and assist in the preparation, review as well as translation of proposals, and when appropriate, collaborate with Corporate Affairs in the preparation of contracts.
- Identify, mitigate, and seek relevant guidance on risk issues, articulate alternatives, recommend and implement solutions.
- Ensure compliance with funding agency guidelines as well as College policies, protocols and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison with external funding agencies.
- Liaise with various College services as needed for the coordination of the management of the funded projects (e.g., coordinate the allocation of release with Academic Systems and applicable departments, collaborate with Finance Services in managing the specific budgets as well as producing reports and financial statements for applicable granting agencies).
- In collaboration with Human Resources and the Dean of Academic Development, participate in the hiring and support of research personnel, as required.
- Manage, plan, and report on budgets and operating resources within area of responsibility; collaborate in the preparation of reports, financial and otherwise, as required.
- Provide support to activities and events organized in the Office of Academic Development and the College, as appropriate.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the Dean of Academic Development.
