Our top-rated organization is looking to add a full-time temporary, grant-funded Bilingual Research Associate I with expertise in data collection and project planning to the Health Disparities Institute (HDI) at UConn Health located in Hartford, CT. HDI seeks to establish UConn Health as a leader in health equity by creating a collaborative environment that brings together different perspectives to look at root causes and potential solutions to health disparities. The Institute’s work centers community-based participatory research methods, interdisciplinary collaboration models, and university-community partnership approaches with a translational impact on health outcomes. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:

  • Expertise with research-related projects management
  • Knowledge of community-engaged research, specifically recruitment
  • Experience with preparing and monitoring IRB submissions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills ability to work independently attend to detail and problem solve.
  • Ability to supervise graduate students.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline (such as Social work or Public Health), plus two (2) years of work experience in health or psychology research.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbents in this class may be required to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases.
Must have demonstrable work experience in health disparities, health equity, services utilization, and/or experience in community-engaged/participatory research, and survey research.
Experience working with racial/ethnic minority males.
Experience with psychoeducational interventions and curriculum design and development. Extensive experience and expertise with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods.
Submission of a research manuscript and health policy related writing sample may be requested (e.g., health policy brief or research paper).
A skills assessment during the interview may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants with background in population/public health, health disparities, social sciences, economics, social work, health equity, and health policy.
PhD in a relevant discipline (such as Social Work or Public Health)

Responsibilities:

  • Support an NIH-funded, community engaged, and participatory funded grant focused on men’s health equity.
  • Assist in the preparation of NIH progress reports.
  • Experience with recruitment of underserved and underrepresented groups for research studies
  • Contribute to the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and reports.
  • Coordinate and drive participant recruitment
  • Coordinate subcontracts and assist with budget preparation and monitoring
  • Serve as a liaison between Principal Investigators, project team staff, and subcontractor
  • Co-facilitate meetings and participant onboarding sessions.
  • Perform other duties related to research, participant recruitment and dissemination as assigned.
