Description:
PLEASE NOTE:
- This position is onsite in Oroville, CA
- Ability to work in an outdoor construction environment for up to 8-10 hours per day, including the use of required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety boots, etc.), with comfort in varying weather conditions, including heat.
- This is a W2 hourly project-based role with benefits.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Spanish Language Consultant (SLTC) will provide essential interpretation services (Spanish to English and English to Spanish) during the qualification assessments of employees in technical or craft roles. The individual is responsible for ensuring and promoting both skill competence and safety for the public and employees. The SLTC will facilitate the assessment process by translating and interpreting for the Qualified Evaluators (QEs), enabling them to accurately assess whether operations employees are performing their duties safely and correctly. Additionally, the SLTC will deliver qualified Spanish interpretation to support the QEs in administering skill assessments for contract crew workforces.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience interpreting between Latin American Spanish and English.
- Ability to work in an outdoor construction environment for up to 8-10 hours per day, including the use of required personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety boots, etc.), with comfort in varying weather conditions, including heat.
- Demonstrated written and verbal fluency in both Latin American Spanish and English.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey feedback and facilitate conversations between evaluators and participants.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Responsibilities:
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Spanish Language Translation Consultant are as follows:
- Deliver fluent, bilingual Latin American Spanish-English interpretation to facilitate communication between Qualified Evaluators (QEs), yard staff, and Spanish-speaking crew members.
- Provide accurate, real-time interpretation during competency skills assessments, ensuring clear understanding between all parties.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures for the assessment program, including maintaining interpretation accuracy within defined parameters and ensuring the security of assessment processes.
- Comply with state and federal regulations, as well as client-specific standard operating procedures, safe work practices, and guidance documents.
- Utilize effective communication and interpretation techniques to ensure participants fully understand the structure and process of their assessments.
- Provide interpretation of assessment results and feedback to participants upon completion of tasks, translating questions and answers, as needed.
- Interpret assessment results and feedback for contract workforce, accurately translating questions, answers, and instructions as needed.
