Description:

The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager in driving human resources initiatives at the facility. This position will assist in administering policies, new hire orientations, staffing/recruiting, training, workforce development, safety, and employee and labor relations. Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex tasks. Competent to work on all phases of his/her functional area. Operates with substantial latitude and only general supervision. This is a generalist position that will report to the facility Human Resources Manager.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Legal compliance with medical records, FMLA, HIPPA, etc.
- People Management
- Develop thorough knowledge of the Federal, State, and Local Labor Laws applicable to employment.
- Develop thorough understanding of the Labor Agreement and WestRock Policies and develop Labor Relations skills.
- Ability to evaluate and respond to union grievances with correct interpretation of the Labor Agreement while accounting for the questions and concerns of the Union and grievant involved.
- Ability to effectively communicate, educate and train others regarding personnel issues, policies and employee benefit programs.
- Skilled at conducting internal investigations including documentation of findings for consideration of necessary action.
- Ability to draft realistic and specific Performance Improvement Plans and Last Chance Agreements.
- Ability to effectively document personnel matters and to manage such documentation in an orderly and accessible manner.
- Ability to manage performance review process providing meaningful feedback and guidance along with assessing compensation issues.
- Ability to identify, interview, and recruit quality candidates for hiring.
- Ability to evaluate staffing concerns with the goal of efficient and productive assignment of personnel.
