Description:
The Special Assistant to the Vice Dean is responsible for working with Vice Dean on academic affairs planning and management for the Law School. This position will support curricular planning, teaching assignments, and adjunct hiring. This position will support continuous academic affairs management including drafting consent calendars, managing faculty leave and banked course schedules, and providing support for legal studies programs (e.g., master’s in legal studies (MLS), legal studies minor), as well as completing special projects. The Special Assistant to the Vice Dean will play a key role in law school accreditation processes, reporting, and faculty-facing administration. The position reports directly to the Vice Dean.

In addition to providing administrative support to the dean, vice dean, associate dean for research, associate dean for diversity, equity, and community, and the assistant dean for finance, the Dean’s Office oversees the planning and production of law school events; acts as a liaison between the law school and the central administration of the university; and helps facilitate the recruitment, retention and professional growth of the law school faculty.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education is necessary.
- Excellent technical skills are necessary, and knowledge of a wide variety of computer and software applications is preferred.
- Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and identify, establish, and meet critical deadlines is necessary.A strong professional presentation is necessary.
