About the position
A temporary position as Special engineer is available at the Department of Medical Genetics, Oslo University Hospital, for one year from 16.september 2024.
The Dept. Medical Genetics at Oslo University Hospital is Norway’s largest medical genetics unit. In addition to diagnostic and clinical genetics, the department has a thriving research section with 9 research groups, and runs a national core facility for high throughput sequencing (HTS), the Norwegian Sequencing Centre (NSC). The NSC is a joint venture with the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo, forms the hub of the national sequencing consortium NorSeq, and provides services and competence in HTS at a national level.
The department operates the largest instrument park for high throughput sequencing in Norway. We operate the following technologies: Illumina (1 x NovaSeq-X, 2 x NovaSeq-6000, 4 x MiSeq, 2 x NextSeq-500) and Oxford Nanopore (MinION). In addition, we operate a Bionano Saphyr instrument for detection of large structural variants, and a range of automation equipment, including Hamilton pipetting robots. We therefore possess the capacity to handle large genomics projects, as well as small targeted studies. Employees at the NSC also engage in research activities including method development within high throughput sequencing, and case-studies in familial genetic disease.
Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. We believe this is essential to perform the tasks required of us. Therefore, we pursue diversity among our job applicants and encourage everyone to apply regardless of who you are and what background you have.
