QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree or diploma from a University or College of recognized standing in Early Childhood Education
  • A post diploma Resource Teacher Certificate or equivalent
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in formal licensed childcare settings
  • Work related experiences involving interdisciplinary teamwork with education, health, developmental and children’s mental health services
  • Knowledge of the local children’s services system, and resources
  • Demonstrated competencies working with infants, toddlers and preschoolers with delays in development
  • Demonstrated understanding of core issues related to lifelong disability/community living and ability to support families in addressing those issues within a family-centred/directed model
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of child development, family systems theories, individual family service planning, atypical infant and child development and the impact of disability and delay on growth and development
  • Abilities to carry out child developmental screenings, interpret results and write summary reports
  • Demonstrated skills in working with community service providers and early childhood educators, group facilitation skills and committee participation
  • Demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgment and initiative. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal, including record keeping, reporting, presentation and public speaking) and ability to work as an effective team member

    Community Living Owen Sound and District is looking for a highly motivated and committed leader to join our Support Services team, to implement and establish systems. Reporting to the Manager of Supported Independent Living and Intensive Supports, the Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Supported Independent Living and Intensive supports programs within their portfolio in a manner which complies with provincial and federal legislation and standards. The focus of the work will be to ensure smooth operations and implement and establish systems that will ensure quality service delivery. TO SUCCEED AS A SUPERVISOR, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO:

  • Understand developmental disabilities, mental health and complex diagnoses.
  • Monitor program operation in accordance with policies and procedures as well as compliance, with funder regulations and standards.
  • In cooperation with management team identify and implement best practices that can be shared throughout the department.
  • Support the staff teams in a timely and sensitive resolution of complaints and service provision issues.
  • Support scheduling requirements for the program/agency.
