About this vacancy
ACADEMIC COORDINATOR/SPECIAL TEACHER (50/50)
Are you passionate about the IES ethos and believe that every child can exceed their potential, no matter what the circumstances? Do you see solutions, work effectively with others and get people on board towards achieving common goals? If so, this presents an excellent opportunity for you, where your abilities will be given space to grow and develop. We are looking for an experienced 1-6 or 4-9 school teacher/Special Teacher, who has a passion for developing education and is ready to take on a leadership position.
The role is both a coordinator and Special Teacher, working closely with Special Pedagogues and Mentors; supporting individual students and smaller groups as well as the organisational coordination of the academic side of the teaching. You will need experience working in an international environment as well as a thorough knowledge of the Swedish educational system. It is important that you are comfortable working in both the English and Swedish languages. The Academic Coordinator/Special Teacher will have a vital role in establishing and implementing the high academic standards expected within IES. The position requires a strategic mindset and a hands on approach. It will involve daily contact with teachers, staff, students and parents. As well as being an educational guru, you should have a strong desire to be part of the journey of developing our school.
The role will be full-time with probation starting in October 2024. The role is focused on years 1-9 during the first year with a shift to 1-6 thereafter 2025/26 (cover for maternity leave 2024/25)
Key areas of responsibility
The Academic Coordinator is part of the school’s leadership team and works closely with the Principal, Assistant Principals, Heads of Department and teachers to develop teaching and learning at IES Kungsbacka. How do we continue to improve the quality of teaching? How do we support students in fulfilling their potential? How do we monitor students’ progress? These are a few of the many questions that you will work with as part of our systematic quality work. You should believe in the central pillars of what we at IES offer to students:
- To command the English language - the key to the world.
- A safe and orderly environment, where teachers can teach and students learn.
- High academic expectations.
Required competencies and desired qualifications/experiences
We are looking for individuals who are Swedish qualified, organised, focused and resilient to the day-to-day pressures that working in education can bring. The successful candidate is a highly committed team player with drive, energy and passion, who:
- Coaches and supports teachers to develop their practice
- Inspires a love of learning within students
- Has a collaborative relationship with parents
Please submit CV and a covering letter via IES Careers
