Description:

The Special School Nursing Team is a county wide service consisting of nurses and healthcare assistants who are based within the Special Schools. We work within the primary and secondary schools in Northamptonshire to ensure children and young people with additional healthcare needs can access their full educational curriculum. We work closely with our colleagues in the community, acute, social and education settings. We delivery competency based training programme to the education teams based in the Special School, working in partnership with schools to meet the needs of the children and young people. You will be lone working in other settings and we want to recruit a forward thinking, dynamic nurse into this permanent position. You will be part of a developing and progressing service working with colleagues who present with enthusiasm for innovative and high standards of practice and be able to work autonomously.
As a registered nurse the you will be working alongside a senior special school nurse who is responsible for managing allocated school caseloads, you will complete holistic nursing assessments including continence assessments, develop care plans for individualized care, complete risk assessments, to support the Education Health and Care Plan of the young person. You will facilitate health promotion sessions in school settings and participate in the immunisation programmes for children and young people. As a registered nurse you will provide mentoring to others including student nurses and you will work in collaboration with other agencies participating Early Help Assessment, Child in Need, and in safeguarding of children and young people through local procedures in line with Northamptonshire Safeguarding Board
