Description:

NHFT Specialist and Secured Services is offering a podiatrist an exciting and unique opportunity to work somewhere completely different; within prison and immigration removal centre (IRC) environments. The successful applicant would work part-time, in at least two of the following sites: HMP Bedford, HMP Littlehey and Yarl’s Wood IRC.
HMP Bedford is a Category B adult male prison with a resettlement function. HMP Littlehey is a Category C prison for men convicted of a sex offence. Yarl’s Wood IRC is a fully contained residential centre housing men, women and adult family groups awaiting immigration clearance.
Podiatry service is integrated within the primary healthcare team. The aim is to provide appropriate and timely care for patients with foot pathology. The podiatrist is supported by GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, physiotherapists, mental health professionals, administrators, and the senior management team, to ensure quality patient care and excellent patient experience.
You will be provided with supervision and mentoring by the clinical lead podiatrist. Mandatory training and other training needs will be identified during the appraisal process to support both your continual professional development and general wellbeing.
Why not come and have a look around and meet some of the team, you would be most welcome. To arrange a visit please send an email to helen.linden@nhft.nhs.uk
To provide exceptional podiatry care: you will assess, diagnose, and provide management for a wide range of patients. Your case load will include complex patients with multiple medical conditions and co-morbidities: diabetes, inflammatory arthritis, dermatological diseases, terminal illness, musculoskeletal disorders, and nail pathologies.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
