Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Haematology, Band 6

To assist in the provision of a comprehensive continuous 24 hour diagnostic service by performing a wide range of urgent, non-urgent and specialised procedures and investigations in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion specialties. This includes the technical and clinical validation of own work and the communication of any confidential urgent/abnormal results thereby facilitating the appropriate diagnosis and effective treatment of patients.The post holder is also expected to select, ensure compatibility and issue blood products in a timely and efficient manner (sometimes in life saving situations e.g. trauma and major bleeding). It is expected that the post holder will uphold both the IBMS and HCPC Code of Conduct and act as a role model to other staff whilst maintaining fitness to practice in accordance with the HCPC standards.
