QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Proven experience in a laboratory setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The post holder will deliver a fit for purpose Blood Sciences service and is primarily responsible for the analytical service. The post holder will rotate through all sections of the department. The key working relationships will be with staff in Biochemistry, but the post holder will be expected to liaise with staff throughout pathology and the Trust. There will be frequent occasions when the post holder takes sole responsibility for work, for example when no senior staff are present .

  • To ensure knowledge of all instrumentation is up to date.
  • To be competent to operate the laboratory equipment to deliver the required analytical service.
  • To perform manual laboratory investigations including the use of liquid handling devices to safely process biological specimens.
  • To technically validate appropriate results according to departmental SOPs.

To ensure the timely and efficient provision of routine or special analytical service

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform a wide range of biochemical analyses, ensuring accurate and timely results. Contribute to research and development projects.
Participate in on-call rotas with comprehensive training provided.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver the best possible patient care.
