Description:

The post holder will provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service to Hillingdon CAMHS. Therapy will be an essential aspect of the post, as will delivering training and clinical supervision for staff working with this type of client-group. Contribution to appropriate clinical policies and procedures will be required, in line with the objectives set for the service and in collaboration with the service’s general management. As Borough Therapy Lead the post holder will be part of the local Senior Management Team (SMT), working closely with Service Manager, Team Manager and Clinical Lead (Psychiatry) and actively lead the service line Care Quality and Performance Group (CQPMG) agenda.
To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and other clinical members of the team who provide psychologically based care and treatment. In particular to offer specialised CBT expertise and training to local psychologists and other appropriate professionals. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research. To contribute to and implement policy changes within the area served by the team/service.
Wo rking within a highly specialised clinical area, to provide highly developed specialist psychological assessments of clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, self-report measures, rating scales direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. To provide training to staff , supervision for multi-disciplinary staff, and advise the Team Manager of the levels and limits of competency of individual staff .
To enter and retrieve data as required into the clinical system and other patient records systems.To develop, prepare and maintain appropriate research databases, as necessary and appropriate.
To take a lead, as a senior clinician, to planning and implementing systems for the evaluation, monitoring and development of the service/sector’s services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit and ensuring
incorporation of psychological frameworks for understanding and provision of high quality care.
To ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.
CNWL CAMHS offers community services across five London Boroughs, we have two inpatient units, Collingham Gardens for under 13-year olds and Lavender Walk, adolescent unit, in inner London and our specialist CYP Eating Disorders Service that sits within our all age Eating Disorders Service. Milton Keynes also provides CAMH services for CNWL.
You will be expected to support the development of all therapy staff in Hillingdon CAMHS and a commitment to meaningful engagement with children & young people, families and other stakeholders to help continuously improve our services is essential as well as ensuring clinicians are encouraged to work in a participatory way so that shared decision making and conversations around formulation/diagnosis and ongoing care are a collaborative endeavour with the people who access our service.
