UHS has one of the largest pharmacy departments in the country with over 300 staff and are nationally recognised for their innovation. The pharmacist team is made up of over 100 pharmacists: including over 50 qualified independent pharmacist prescribers and five consultant pharmacists and leading national experts. We are committed to supporting all our pharmacists in their development.
We are looking for a forward thinking, motivated clinical pharmacist specialising in cardiac disease to work within the cardiovascular and thoracic (CV&T) care group at UHS - a tertiary service for cardiology, cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. You will join a team of cardiac pharmacists (many of whom are independent prescribers) to work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver optimum patient care to CV&T patients.

Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist pharmaceutical review of medication for cardiology, cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery patients
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to advise on medication for CV&T patients to optimise their care
- Deliver education and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals working within CV&T
- Contribute to department wide audit, research, risk management and clinical governance
- Develop guidelines to ensure safe prescribing practice
- Working with clinicians to optimise medication for heart failure patients and assisting with the development of specialist clinics for optimisation of secondary prevention medicines are two areas of development currently.
