University Hospital Southampton NHS FT is looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to work as Specialist Doctor in the Corneal sub speciality. This post is permanent.
Ideally the candidate will hold MRCOphth or equivalent qualification, and have completed a corneal fellowship in a reputed NHS Trust. They should hold or be eligible for full GMC registration. However, applicants with a clear interest in academic ophthalmology will also be considered.
This post is an excellent opportunity for a clinician to develop their research and clinical experience in ophthalmology. It is expected that the appointee will publish research papers during the time in the trust. The successful candidate will participate in ongoing clinical trials. There will be opportunities to participate and develop surgical skills.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our corneal sub speciality team. The post holder must have full GMC registration, have completed a corneal fellowship, and have sufficient teaching experience in cataract surgery and corneal transplantation. Research, service improvement and publications in high-impact journals are desirable

Responsibilities:

The post holder will be involved in the development of primary/secondary and tertiary level corneal care in accordance with current NICE guidance. They will be expected to contribute to the development of corneal services, including the virtualisation of clinical activity.
Together with existing colleagues, the new appointee will assist in building up the clinical and academic excellence of corneal care provided by University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
