Description:
Virtual Fracture Clinic Working closely with orthopaedic consultants to review x-rays to inform diagnosis and management plans for patients with acute fractures. Developing knowledge, triage and assessment skills for common conservatively managed orthopaedic injuries. Developing knowledge and skills in treatment, education and rehabilitation of conservatively managed injuries within the acute stages. Supportive environment with support from VFC team and Orthopaedic Consultants.
Face to face Clinic Face to face follow up clinics, either working as a specialist physiotherapist or practitioner alongside an Orthopaedic Consultant. Examples include; soft tissue shoulder clinic, acute knee clinic, proximal humerus fracture clinic, Achilles tendon rupture clinic. Education Dedicated in-service training program taught by the VFC team, Orthopaedic Consultants and other members of the MDT. Opportunity to develop teaching skills through delivery of in-service training to VFC team and other members of the MDT.
Work as a link practitioner with local A&E Departments, Urgent Treatment Centres and Minor Injury Units. Service Development Opportunity to lead on and participate in service development projects and implement changes that improve efficiency of the VFC and quality of patient care. Research Engage with evidence-based practice to ensure VFC patient care remains up to date in line with current guidelines. Participate in local research project including reviewing our current practice and patient experience of our care.
Engage with national research projects including being involved in recruitment for trials. Attend annual Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Day
