The Specialist Firewall – Managed Security Services continues second-level technical client support provided by the Analyst and Sr. Analysts. The Specialist has proven process experience in multiple firewall technologies supported by the Managed Security Services practice. Provides both technical and process mentorship in these areas to Analysts and Sr. Analysts.
This successful applicant will analyze and implement firewall rules, troubleshoot network security incidents, participate in : Cyber Security incident response; troubleshooting; capturing and analyzing packets captures (pcaps) ; log analysis; configurations management; restoring from back up; networks, infrastructure, and other system and network security issues. Proven Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience working with the TCP/IP protocol stack and firewalls, NAT, VPN, IDS/IPS, etc.. Must have solid understanding of how firewall works from both the practical/hands-on & theoretical perspectives. Able to use that knowledge to support various firewall and packet filtering technologies/vendors. Comfortable using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump. Proven ability in crafting packets to test firewalls and other ACL rules.
This role upholds defined service level agreements (SLA), service level objectives (SLO) and customer service excellence. The Specialist Firewall continues to develop a platform of technical expertise.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or 3-year diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or a Technology related field along with demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience working with the TCP/IP protocol stack and firewalls from both the practical/hands-on and theoretical perspectives. Able to use that knowledge to support various firewall and packet filtering technologies/vendors. Comfortable using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump. Proven ability in crafting packets to test firewalls and other ACL rules.
- Holds technical certifications for at least two (2) firewall technologies for which Sirius offers Managed Security Services * and has at least two (23) years of IT firewall Support experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in security operations center (SOC)
- Holds technical certifications for at least one (1) firewall technology for which Sirius offers Managed Security Services * and has at least four (4) years of IT firewall Support experience in a client-focused environment, and/or working in security operations center (SOC)
Managed Security Services certifications may include, but are not limited to: Check Point: CCSA, CCSE: Cisco; CCNA-Security, CCNP – Security, CCIE – Security; Palo Alto: PCNSA, PCNSE; AWS, Azure, JNCIE-SP, JNCIP-SP, JNCIS-SP or similar technology certifications and or training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The position is part of a 7 day per week, 24 hour per day managed services operations. To provide the required coverage, the candidate must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
