JOB OVERVIEW

Looking for a passionate Occupational Therapist who wants to work in a supportive and progressive Community Learning Disability Team .
The team comprises Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists who are all aiming to carry out specialist assessments and interventions, which can adapt this to meet the different needs of the people they are working with.
You will be joining other OT’s, both within the team but also across the LD services within the Trust, that are focused on providing evidence based input, especially around grading and adapting someone’s development in skills and the importance of meaningful activities to aid quality of life and provide purpose for day to day living. This will be supported by engagement and participation in LD OT service wide study days and AHP events that are run both within CWP and externally.
The team are always wanting to look at how best to provide the most effective service for people who access it and this includes carrying out QI projects and research. There is also links with CANDDID to support future research projects. There is opportunity to identify areas of specialism/ interest within OT that the team would want to support developing further.
The team works across two bases, one in Chester and one in Winsford and so the designated base can be agreed with the successful applicant.

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

To work using a high level of expertise within the multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload of service users including those with different severity of learning disabilities and other conditions. Providing core occupational therapy interventions that enable individuals to work towards a valued lifestyle and aim for optimum level of functional ability, including; bringing a focus on meaningful occupation and its impact on behaviour and function for service users and specialist advice to other team members and other agencies.
To carry out sensory processing assessments and provide interventions and recommendations to service users, family/ carers and support staff to optimise their sensory input.
To ensure that upto date electronic records are maintained in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
To support the completion of general team work, including initial assessments, duty and assessments/ interventions that are not profession specific. Also providing guidance to others in the team and new colleagues when they join.
