Description:

The Mental Health Inpatient Occupational Therapy Hub are looking for a motivated and compassionate part time Specialist Occupational Therapist (OT) to work on our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). PICU is a ten bedded, mixed sex, Psychiatric Intensive Care service which is offered to service users who are detained and require mental Health treatment. Therefore, candidates will be required to have the specialist level of experience, knowledge, and clinical skills to conduct evidence-based OT Assessments and Treatment plans to promote the service user’s occupational identity and performance skills to enable their recovery, health, and wellbeing.
The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, provide clinical supervision to coordinate and develop the therapeutic activities offered across the service. The Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and relevant assessments and outcome measures are used to frame clinical practice, therefore the successfully applicant would benefit from having previous knowledge and experience of the model and assessment tools.

Humber employ 80+ OT staff and are part of the wider AHP network. Access to OT Profession network and training to promote personal, and professional development. The OTs in the mental health services are part of the Mental Health Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Group to ensure they have access to right support, training, and development opportunities.

  • To provide specialist Occupational Therapy input into PICU.
  • To collaborate with the Multi-disciplinary Team to promote service-users recovery, health, and wellbeing.
  • To provide Evidence-based Occupational Therapy assessments, develop interventions plans and provide outcome measures to identified service users to promote their recovery, independence and community living skills.
  • To coordinate, develop and provide clinical supervision to promote the development of therapeutic activities offered across the service.
  • To work with internal and external agencies to develop networks to support service users in the service to reengage back in the community.
  • To be part of the Inpatient OT Hub to continue to progress and develop the OT provision.
  • To actively engage in the wider OT network.
