Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Children’s Therapy team on a temporary basis in York, covering maternity leave .
The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, innovative and child-centred therapy team , which covers both the York and Selby locality and delivers high quality compassionate clinical care for children and young people from 0-18 years, with a variety of neurological and developmental difficulties.
You will be working with pre-school and school aged children with a range of conditions and therapy needs in a variety of settings, including hospital clinics, patient’s homes, mainstream and special schools and nurseries.
This post would suit a Band 5 looking to develop their clinical skills, or an established Band 6 Occupational Therapist. Previous clinical experience working in Paediatrics is recommended together with experience in the management and ordering of postural equipment to support the clinical workload.
We have an established support network within the Therapy team and a strong commitment to supporting personal and professional development through an in-service training programme, regular clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal.

The successful applicant will be part of a skilled multi-professional therapy team providing a high quality therapy service. Experience working with children and young people of all ages is recommended for this post.
You will provide Specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for children and young people referred to the children’s therapy team with a range of conditions. You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload and work as an autonomous practitioner, working without direct supervision. Clinical work will be evaluated in line with Trust and service objectives.
Support and training will be provided by Senior clinical staff within the team. You will have access to regular clinical and managerial supervision and appraisal opportunities to identify objectives within the four pillars of practice. You would be expected to participate in ongoing service development activities and the regular in-service training programme. You will be required to provide support, leadership, specialist advice and training, and supervision- to less experienced members of staff, students and apprentices. We encourage innovative practice and you will be supported accordingly to develop in your role.
The ability to transport yourself across the locality is a requirement for this role during a normal working day. It will require travel across different community settings which may be hard to reach using public transport.
