Are you a seasoned payroll professional with a passion for accuracy and compliance? Join our dynamic team as a Specialist, Payroll Lead and Benefits where you’ll oversee the end-to-end payroll process for our Canadian and Global operations. In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, manage payroll-related inquiries, and stay abreast of the latest regulatory changes. Your expertise will drive process improvements and enhance our payroll systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and satisfaction of our workforce. Responsibilities:
- Payroll:
- Lead payroll processes for salaried and hourly employees (semi-monthly), international locations (monthly) and pensioners (monthly).
- Lead payroll compliance processes across all jurisdictions, ensuring accurate tax deductions & remittances, benefit remittances, annual processing of T4 summaries and related filings and monitor jurisdictional compliance changes to ensure AIMCo’s processes and practices are up to date with changing legislative requirements.
- Processes bi-monthly payroll for Global employees including, verifying time, reviewing and auditing time entries, transmitting and receiving payroll files.
- Sets up terminations, leaves and new hires and other miscellaneous paperwork such as direct deposits, T4s, ROEs and employee personal changes. Follows up on missing or incomplete paperwork and forms.
- Acts as the primary contact for payroll & benefits, researches and resolves problems, and files paperwork as needed.
- Responsible for all Provincial and Federal filings/reports, including tax updates in the payroll system.
- Maintains the Payroll process guides
- Works closely with various auditors to ensure compliance.
- Works closely with finance to address questions about account/accrual balances, general ledger, etc.
- Benefits:
- Assists with managing Global Pension Plan programs; which includes distributions and enrollment processes.
- Audits benefit billings/invoices.
- Counsel employees on benefits programs, reviews enrollment in benefit programs, assists employees with filing claims.
- Processes Leave of Absences and Workers Compensation cases.
Ideal Candidate Experience and Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Canadian Payroll experience
- PCP Designation (Payroll Compliance Professional)
- 3+ years of experience in a Payroll Lead or managerial level role
- Knowledge in Workday system preferred
- Experience with system implementations in global countries is an asset
- Positive team player with the ability to motivate, develop and lead others
- Experience processing high volume, multi-country payroll
- Superior communication, customer service and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with MS Office applications, with advanced knowledge in Excel
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment
