Description:

C&M SPMMHS, which includes SPS, is jointly provided by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, providing highly specialist assessment and treatment to mums, babies, and families from pregnancy through to 24 months. MMHS is hosted by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, with a focus on perinatal loss and trauma and is a collaboration with the Local Maternity & Neonatal System. Perinatal mental health care remains a national priority in the NHS Long Term Plan. Considering the strong financial case for investment in prevention and the long-term whole system benefits to be achieved due to the role of Perinatal Mental Health Teams in prevention, expected to be realised in Children and Young People Mental Health Services, adult mental health services, A&E and physical health care settings.
As a Social Worker within Specialist Perinatal Services (SPS), the post holder will provide a specialised role in the development and implementation of services and care pathways for women, birthing people and their families within SPMMHS in line with the ambitions of the Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) Long Term Plan (LTP).
The post holder will be expected to provide specialist assessment/interventions with women and birthing people alongside advice, consultancy and supervision, within the service line and where required to external partner agencies. As the post is identified within the PMH LTP , it is expected the role will continue to develop in line with national and local initiatives. The post holder will demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users’ and their carers.
