Description:

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has a world class reputation for patient care, teaching and research. This static post is based at St Mary’s hospital which is one of the four Major Trauma Centres within London as well as being a regional centre for Neurosciences. The team have recently featured on the Channel 4 series of “Emergency” which showcases the patient pathway and the integral role of therapies.
As a static neuro-trauma physiotherapist within the Major Trauma and Acute Neurosciences team at St Mary’s hospital, you will be supported by experienced band 8 clinicians. You will become fully integrated within the multi-disciplinary team providing excellent care across the inpatient admission. Your clinical caseload would be varied with a combination of complex trauma, neuro-trauma, as well as patients on neurosurgical pathways. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with the North West London Trauma Rehab network exploring patient pathways, experience and therapy education.

This is an exciting opportunity for the post holder to work in a clinical leadership role with specific responsibility for the development and provision of physiotherapy within the Major Trauma and Acute Neurosciences. The post holder will be based in a static role at St Mary’s Hospital and will work alongside a rotational band 7 specialist neurosciences/stroke/trauma physiotherapist, as well as band 7 rehabilitation coordinators.
Together with these other senior staff, you will act as a resource of specialist advice to the rest of the physiotherapy service and other professions. The physiotherapists work as part of the multi-disciplinary team across the acute patient pathway to ensure that patients’ needs are met, pathway planning is effective and discharges are well coordinated. This includes communication with onward inpatient, outpatient and community providers, as well as working closely with our Rehabilitation Consultant.
The job holder is required to work at weekends as part of their contracted hours of work. Staff will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies. The job holder may be required to participate in the overnight on call rota and will do so once they have completed the relevant induction and achieved the required competencies (specific rota details are held locally within departments).
