Description:
1. JOB SUMMARY
The detail of the job plan is open to negotiation and will be formalised with the Clinical Director on behalf of the Medical Director shortly after commencement. This will be reviewed within the first year of employment and on an annual basis thereafter to reflect changing workload, commitments and service needs.
The post holder will be expected to provide general Radiology services as part of the radiology team, including the provision of consulting and advisory services to clinical colleagues. The post holder will contribute to the rota for daytime acute CT and MRI cover and comply with the department’s policy for minimising the number of dropped clinical lists.
The post holder will contribute to provision of specialist gynaecological services. They will further develop services within the trust and participate in gynae-oncology multidisciplinary team meetings to maintain the highest standards of care. The proportion of specialist work relative to general radiology provision is open to negotiation.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the supervision of radiology SpRs assigned to the department.
The appointee will be expected to demonstrate firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit, complying with GMC guidelines on good medical practice and Data Protection legislation. All employees must participate in Mandatory Training as required by the Trust.
3.2 On Call Requirements
Following a period of training and once deemed competent. There is a potential that the post will also include an equitable participation in the general (non-interventional) on-call rota. This is currently undertaken on a 1:14 frequency attracting 1 PA, subject to changes in the number of employed radiologists and changes in service provision. This currently attracts Band A on call allowance (3% supplement). Night time CT (after 8pm weekdays, 6pm weekends) is currently outsourced in order that the following days’ work is not compromised by disturbed sleep. However, the in-house radiologist remains on-call through the night for advice, provision of other modalities and backup in case of IT failure.
