Description:

JOIN US AS A SPECIALIST FOR RAILWAY SUBSTRUCTURE

We are seeking a specialist to join our railway team, not in the traditional sense but as someone who wants to develop and shape technical solutions for modern, digital, and sustainable infrastructure. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to influence some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in Sweden and across the Nordics as part of our European collaboration.
Across Europe, we are 300 railway consultants working on large, multidisciplinary projects like the Västlänken and Ostlänken in Sweden, High Speed 2 in the UK, the autonomous commuter rail system in Copenhagen, and the universal design Lørenskog, Vestby and Ås in Norway.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of railway substructure design within COWI.
  • Design railway substructures within a BIM environment.
  • Mentor and support junior designers in their professional growth.
  • Prepare various contract documents, including Execution and Design-Build contracts, for both large and small assignments, following General Conditions in consultation with clients. This includes producing Descriptions and Quantity Schedules.
  • Participate in early project phases, such as feasibility studies, railway plans, and system documentation, in consultation with clients.
  • Develop technical studies, drawings, reports, etc., and manage reviews with authorities within your technical area, either independently or in collaboration with clients. Provide technical consulting in select areas as well.

YOUR SKILLS. OUR TEAM. TOGETHER WE CREATE THE FUTURE.

The first step to success in this role is a genuine enthusiasm for collaboration, whether with colleagues, partners, or clients. You build connections by acting respectfully and keeping your commitments.

Additionally, you have:

  • A degree in engineering or an equivalent relevant education in railway engineering.
  • Experience with Bentley products and view BIM as a natural part of the workflow.
  • At least 5 years of experience in design, preferably from another consulting engineering firm or a technically strong client organization.
  • Experience in a technical role within railway substructure design in Swedish projects for Trafikverket.
  • Fluent in Swedish and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
