Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant skills, experience and knowledge to join the Corporate Nursing Safeguarding Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMB) on a permanent basis.
Morecambe Bay is one of the most picturesque parts of the country with the Lake District on our doorstep.
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner who will offer specialist knowledge, advice and supervision to UHMB colleagues who are working both within the hospital and in the community.
The post holder will work closely with the Named Professionals to deliver the Trust’s statutory requirements and safeguarding agenda.
You will be working as part of an integrated children’ s and adults safeguarding team which works across the three main hospital sites - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow-in-Furness, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal.
There will be an expectation that you travel to tall hospital sites as required.
As a Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner for Children and Adults the post holder will:
Provide support and advice to practitioners within the Trust who are dealing with cases of actual or suspected abuse of children and adults.
Provide safeguarding supervision to staff in line with the Trust safeguarding supervision policy.
Actively participate in the delivery of the safeguarding training strategy and ongoing development of safeguarding children and adults training.

Contribute to ensuring that the Trust meets its statutory responsibilities in relation to Section 11 of The Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 2003 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
