IAG Cargo is seeking a Specialist Sales Executive who embodies a blend of exceptional skills and experiences. The ideal candidate will possess highly developed social, interpersonal, and communication skills, enabling them to engage effectively with customers and colleagues alike Your ability to work under pressure autonomously is crucial, as is the capacity to take measured risks to maximize profit, demonstrating a balance of courage and commercial acumen.
The role demands strong organizational and time management skills to handle the dynamic nature of the cargo industry, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all tasks. Your selling skills, especially in negotiation, are essential to secure and grow business relationships, while excellent influencing skills are required to effectively interact at all levels within customer organizations. An entrepreneurial mindset is also key, as it will drive the development of innovative solutions to meet customer requirements.
You should be a team player with a proven ability to develop team dynamics, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Desirable experiences include airline reservations and customer-facing roles, which would provide a solid foundation for understanding the nuances of the cargo sector and delivering superior customer experiences

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Specialist Sales Executive at IAG Cargo plays a pivotal role in enhancing the customer experience and driving the company’s revenue through expert handling of specialist product reservations. This role is not just about making sales; it’s about becoming a trusted advisor and advocate for our specialist customer base, ensuring that their booking experience is seamless and exceeds expectations.
Building strong customer relationships at different organizational levels is vital. The role requires keeping Salesforce updated with quotes, business gains, opportunities, and compliance details. The executive is also tasked with driving sales conformance, maximizing capacity utilization, and securing specialist business.
The UK & Ireland commercial team is compact and operates in a fast-paced environment, which means the role may occasionally require flexibility in tasks and working hours to ensure continuous customer service and adapt to commercial changes.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform reservations for special products in a timely and compliant manner, ensuring an excellent booking experience for all customers.
- Provide a personal sales service to major specialist customers.
- Maintain strong customer relationships.
- Develop a good understanding of Optima.
- Develop a deep understanding of IAGC specialist products and the specific requirements for the various commodities covered under them.
- When required, there will be a need to negotiate rates effectively, however the majority of the work will entail reservations at pre-set defined rates.
- Identify new business through effective dialogue with customers at transactional level.
- Develop pipeline reports for new business opportunities and record in Salesforce. Provide business with progress updates on each new opportunity.
- Work largely on own initiative with agents and maximising selling available capacity.
- Confident in managing customer challenges without having direct support from IAG cargo management.
- Contribute to achieve revenue targets by seeking all selling opportunities from customer to maximise both yield and revenue for the UK&I.
- Develop strong working relationships with customer support, based on mutual trust, respect and understanding of their needs, to develop loyalty to IAG Cargo.
